[description] =>

Explore some of Europe’s most beautiful waterside destinations.
Our Fjords and Lakes holidays are all about slowing down, spending quality time together and discovering incredible landscapes along the way. Every location offers something a little different for families wishing to experience the outdoors, from Slovenia's mountain beauty and Montenegro's wild coastline to Norway's spectacular fjords and Finland's peaceful lakes.
Norway offers breathtaking travel experiences across some of the most beautiful scenery in the Nordic region thanks to its tall mountains, deep blue fjords, and weaving coastline pathways. Families may take in Norway's renowned natural beauty while enjoying scenic rail trips, fjord cruises and trips to charming waterfront towns.
While Finland's quiet lake districts are perfect for reconnecting with nature, whether through forest walks, wildlife encounters, or unwinding in a traditional sauna surrounded by wilderness, Slovenia offers a slower pace, with vibrant lakes, alpine forests and charming towns that are ideal for active family adventures.
Dramatic mountains, historic coastal villages, and the Bay of Kotor are all combined in Montenegro for a slightly distinct experience. From visiting national parks and taking boat tours to just spending time by the ocean, these vacations are meant to help families create memories that last forever.

Travel with the experts
Our Artisan Travel Experts know these destinations inside out and are always happy to help you choose the right holiday and activities for your family. Your safety and experience are at the heart of everything we do, so you can travel with confidence knowing you’re in expert hands.

[0] => Today you will arrive at Tromsø Airport to start your Northern Norway adventure. You will take the airport express shuttle to your hotel, just 15 minutes away and in the heart of the city, known as the ‘Paris of the North’. We recommend walking around the city and eating at one of the many restaurants on offer before coming back to the hotel and heading to the 11th floor for incredible views on the sky bar.
[1] => Today following breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and take the airport express shuttle back to the airport to pick up your car for the week. You can pick up your car at any time so if you would like to explore Tromsø first there are plenty of activities on offer. We recommend visiting the Polar Park - the world’s northernmost park.
Once you have your car, you will make your way to Narvik with Norway’s stunning scenery unveiling itself at every turn.
Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel, which is one of Northern Norway’s tallest buildings. The sky bar on the 15th floor gives you the best views of the surrounding mountains and fjords, and is the perfect spot to enjoy the Midnight Sun.
[2] => After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and can either start your drive immediately or spend some time in Narvik. You could visit the insightful war museum or take the cable car for panoramic views of the deep fjords and stunning mountains.
Today you will be driving to Svolvær, the largest town in the beautiful Lofoten Islands.
Upon your arrival, you will check into your unique accommodation the fisherman’s cabins at Svinøya Rorbuer. These traditional cabins are situated right on the water and have been beautifully restored and converted into comfortable and cosy lodging - perfect for experiencing the authentic Lofoten lifestyle.
You will be on picturesque island of Svinøya, just a short walk from Svolvær's charming town centre and home to a range of restaurants, cafes, and galleries. You could also book onto an activity to experience the local nature and wildlife. You could take a rib boat safari to see the sea eagles in some of the most awe-inspiring nature in the region. If you’d prefer to stay on land, you could experience an Icelanic horse ride along white sandy beaches and under the Midnight Sun. Speak to one of our travel advisors to book additional activities onto your trip.
[3] => Svolvær is the gateway to the stunning Lofoten Islands and you can use it is a jumping off point for a myriad of activities. Whether you take a boat trip to Trollfjord, a narrow and dramatic fjord that's surrounded by towering mountains and frequented by seals and sea eagles.
Or you can venture further afield to the pretty fishing villages of Kabelvåg or Henningsvær or the excellent Viking museum at Borg.
This evening we would recommend dining at oneone of Svolvær's many excellent restaurants. Lofoten is known for its fresh seafood, so be sure to try some of the local dishes, such as cod tongue or stockfish.
[4] => Today following breakfast, you will embark on your longest drive of the trip. You will drive around 380 km, including two ferry rides which will take you around 6-7 hours. There is another route you can take to avoid the ferry crossing, however we feel it misses some of the many memorable sights along the way!
Upon arrival at Senja, you will be greeted by this idyllic Norwegian fishing village as you make your way to the hotel surrounded by dramatic mountains and beautiful countryside. We recommend eating in the hotel’s restaurant to try delicious local food with stunning views.

This trip is available year-round - if you’re travelling during the summer months (c.15th May-30th September), your journey from Bergen to Flam will be via catamaran and then returning on a railway journey through the mountains, which includes the scenic Flåmsbana route. If you are travelling outside of this time, you’ll enjoy the stunning railway journey both ways from Bergen.

[0] => Following your arrival at Bergen Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel in the city, approximately 25 minutes away.
You’ll check into the Zander K hotel just a few minutes walk from the UNESCO heritage site Bryggen. You could stay in the hotel for your dinner tonight or your central location puts you in the perfect place to discover one of the many restaurants in the city.
We recommend arriving on an early flight today (our Travel Experts can arrange this for you) so that you can enjoy Bergen and prepare for tomorrow’s trip to Flåm, which departs early in the morning. We can of course arrange an extra night in Bergen, or Flåm, should you wish.
[1] => This morning, following an early breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel to transfer to the picturesque village of Flåm. If you are travelling during the summer months (c.15th May to 30th September), you’ll cruise along the longest fjord in Norway, Sognefjord, on a catamaran, departing at 8am. This crossing, taking approximately five and a half hours, is a spectacular way to experience the fantastic nature here. If you’re travelling outside of summer, you won’t miss out on the views as you travel via rail from Bergen to Flåm, changing at Myrdal to enjoy the scenic Flåmsbana route, through the high mountains and into the valleys, with extraordinary scenery along the way. The train journey from Bergen to Flåm is approximately 3.5 hours.
Bergen train station is a 15-minute walk away from your hotel, and you can add on a taxi as an optional extra if preferred - please let us know at the time of booking, or alternatively, you can arrange this directly with the hotel when you arrive in Bergen.
Once you arrive in Flåm, you’ll check into the Flåmsbrygga Hotel, situated right on the harbour for a quiet and peaceful spot with views of the fjord.
This afternoon, you’ll get the opportunity to see even more of this breathtaking nature during an exciting RIB safari. You’ll go through the Aurlandsfjord and to the entrance of the spectacular Nærøyfjord - a UNESCO World Heritage Site with steep mountainsides and cascading waterfalls. For 1 hr 30 minutes, you’ll be on the lookout for seals, porpoises, and eagles as you hear stories and tales from Norwegian history, all while experiencing some of the most beautiful nature in the world.
Following your time on the water, you’ll have the evening free to spend as you please in Flåm.
[2] => Following breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel and return to Bergen on the Flåm Railway, one of the world’s steepest train rides taking you through the Flåm valley and up to the high mountains in Myrdal station. Take in the panoramic views of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in Norway. Changing at Myrdal, you will then take the train straight to Bergen. Arriving in Bergen, your hotel is just two minutes walk away.
Returning to Bergen, you’ll check into your hotel before meeting with your local guide this afternoon to take a history and culture walk around the city. As you stroll through the streets of Bergen, you’ll gain an insight into the city’s fascinating history and hear stories from your knowledgeable guide. Your tour finishes up on the top of Mount Fløyen. Take in the great view of the city. This is the perfect place to take pictures!
You’ll be staying in the Zander K, the same as your first night and right in the heart of the city to enjoy your final night here.
[3] => Today it is sadly time for your Norwegian adventure to come to an end.
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before we transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
