If you’re looking for somewhere to eat, the Old Cellar restaurant in the centre of Bled will make for a memorable meal: the restaurant gets its name from its location in a 500-year-old wine cellar, with friendly staff serving both international and traditional Slovenian cuisine. Alternatively, you could always grab some local delicacies and enjoy a scenic picnic on the banks of Lake Bled.  [1] => Following a delicious breakfast, you and your family will stroll to the meeting point located near your hotel where you will meet your guide and be transferred to the Sava River to get suited up for the day’s adventures. As well as full safety instructions and training on the rules of conduct in the raft, your guide will also provide you with a neoprene suit, a life jacket, a helmet, and a paddle.  You’ll raft down the river rapids, floating past beautiful landscapes as you wind between white boulders, working together to steer with the course of the river. By the time you reach the end of the course, you’ll be wanting to go again! You will be out on the river for approximately 1 hour, with the whole activity lasting around 2-3 hours, after which you will be transferred back to Bled. Please note that children must be at least 120cm tall to participate. If you’re not quite done with water for the day, we thoroughly recommend a visit to the Živa Wellness centre and a dip in one of its six pools; a daily entrance pass is included during your stay, limited to 3 hours access per day. With a spa for Mum and Dad to relax in and a water slide for the kids, relaxing in a pool watching the sun set over Lake Bled is a magical way to finish your day off.  [2] => Stock up on a hearty breakfast this morning ready for the day’s adventures, which will take you to an amazing series of canyons at the base of the Julian Alps. Like yesterday, you will stroll to the meeting point located just a few minutes from your accommodation where you will meet your guide and drive to the activity’s starting point. Once there, you will be surrounded by tumbling waterfalls and beautiful emerald pools. You will be provided with a wetsuit, shoes, harness, and helmet prior to a full safety briefing and demonstration by your guide. Once you’re all suited up and harnessed in, the adventures begins! To make your way from the top of the canyon to its base, you will slide down natural water tunnels, climb down a series of secured rope abseils and jump into the crystal-clear river pools carved out by Alpine run off. The canyoning will take approximately 1 hour, and you will be out for roughly 3 hours in total. Children must be at least 120cm tall to participate. After enjoying this superb family activity, you will be transferred back to Bled where you will be free to do what you wish this afternoon.  So, dinner tonight – did we mention that Slovenia borders Italy? The Spica - Bar and Restaurant will serve you up fine Italian cuisine so authentic you’ll forget which side of the border you’re on!  [3] => By day four of looking out over Lake Bled’s beautiful scenery, we are sure you will have wondered what lies on the other side of the lake. Today you will find out! After breakfast, you’ll spend the morning cycling along the shores of Lake Bled and exploring sights off the tourist track. The meeting point for this activity is located just a few minutes from your accommodation where you will meet your guide to start your biking adventure.   The family-friendly route will take you through the villages near the lake’s shore, offering majestic views of the Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, and Karavanke mountains. Once you’re about halfway, you will walk up to a high viewpoint which will allow you to admire the panoramic views of Bled Castle. While you will know it quite well by now, it looks very different from a distance and even more beautiful when framed by the lake and island.  After hiking around the lush woods at Pokljuka Gorges and exploring natural sights most tourists won’t see, you’ll cycle back to the centre of Bled and be rewarded with a slice of authentic Bled cream cake for all your hard work. For parents there are E-bikes available to rent for a supplement; if you would like one, we advise booking in advance. Please speak to one of our Travel Experts for further information. The route is generally easy and relatively flat; it is approximately 25km long and you will be out for up to 4 hours.  After your morning travelling by bike, you will have the afternoon free to enjoy as you choose.  [4] => While the idea of ziplining may be a daunting one for those afraid of heights, there is no better place to face your fears than Zipline Dolinka in Bled. This family-friendly zip-lining course is located in the stunning Sava Valley, a protected nature reserve, with beautiful views and idyllic surroundings.  After breakfast, you and your family will take a short walk from your hotel to a different meeting point where you will meet your guide and be transferred to the activity’s starting place. Once you have arrived, you will be provided with all of the necessary equipment (harness, helmet, and gloves) before receiving a full safety briefing and demonstration. The staff are very experienced at dealing with more hesitant adventurers and are happy to take the time to familiarise guests with the equipment. When reaching the first aerial platform, the guide will teach you about the rules you need to follow, explain the basics, and hook you up on the steel wire using a harness while making sure you are safe and ready to fly. You will then soar through the air on seven different steel wires, each varying in length, making your way to the bottom of the scenic valley. The activity will last for around 2-3 hours in total. Please note that children under the age 13 years will descend in tandem with a guide.  This afternoon you will have some free time; why not enjoy the swimming pool at Ziva Wellness Hotel? Alternatively, have you visited Bled Castle yet? It’s a beautiful building containing more than a thousand years of history within its high stone walls.   [5] => Exactly as wondrous as its name suggests, this full day tour is the perfect way to round off your trip). This morning enjoy a hearty breakfast, pack sunscreen, swimsuits, drinks and snacks and a camera – you'll need all of these. You’ll also need to bring your passport, as you will be travelling into Italy today. You will start off on the ‘sunny side of the Alps’, venturing into Triglav National Park with your tour guide. A factor that will quickly become apparent is how different each corner of this Alpine landscape is. Your first landmark will be one of the highest waterfalls in Slovenia, Peričnik falls. After a short hike directly to it, you will also experience a walk behind the falls, seeing the beautiful landscape through a sheet of crystalline water. Once you’ve ventured out again, you will pass through Kranjska Gora and upwards to the astonishing Špik mountain range, which will offer you both the perfect background for your photo and a chance to dry off in the sun.  The Zelenci springs will be the next stop on your itinerary, one of only two places that the mighty Sava Dolinka River thunders to the surface. Clean and cold, the waters passing through layers of marl gives the Zelenci springs the well-known emerald colour. You will see another green lake as your family takes a brief hop over the Italian border to Lake Predil, whose mint-green waters are coloured by the glacier run-off high up in the Alps.    Back in Slovenia, your family will experience the rugged beauty of the Soča Valley, a paradise for adventurers and nature enthusiasts. You will stop at the Great Gorge of Soča, which offers a background for amazing photos and an opportunity to swim in the river. It’s a fabulous place for a break for lunch, with restaurants and cafes close by, or a supermarket if you would prefer a picnic. Alternatively, you can add on another activity, such as ziplining and rafting.  The sixth wonder is waiting for you on the Vršič pass, which at 1611m above sea level marks the highest road pass in the Eastern Julian Alps; the views are simply breath-taking.  Your final stop is just over the hill at Jasna Lake, a man-made lake with yet another stunning view of the Julian Alps. Its crystal-clear waters are the perfect place for a dip.  This tour has been designed to show off the stunning highlights of the Julian Alps. It is a sightseeing tour that is done at a relaxing pace, with many stops along the way. The tour will last for approximately 10-12 hours in total, returning to Bled around 6-8pm.  [6] => Today is free for you to do as you please; you can be as active or relaxed as you like.   Please see the ‘personalise’ tab for the optional activity options. [7] => Unfortunately, it’s time for your Slovenian adventures to come to an end. Depending on your flight time, you’ll either enjoy breakfast in the hotel or it will be boxed up to take to the airport. Montenegro has only recently started to receive the kind of glowing publicity that we know it deserves. It is a land of exceptional landscapes which provide the backdrop to some incredible family experiences.

With its walled towns and vast dramatic mountains, a visit to Montenegro is like stepping into the past. It is a country that encapsulates an idyllic blend of Eastern and Western European cultures. Walking on streets over which Ancient Romans walked and swimming in waters once sailed by pirates. Children will feel like intrepid explorers and adults will no doubt be captivated by the sheer beauty of this tiny country.

All activities are included in the cost of your holiday, which starts and ends in the town of Kotor. With a rich history and Venetian influence, this is a delightful coastal base situated on the edge of a fjord. You will enjoy snorkelling, swimming and sea kayaking at the coast, as well as a thrilling high ropes course inland. For those choosing to upgrade to Hotel Splendido or Hotel Montebay Perla, you will stay on the opposite side of the bay to the town of Kotor, but it is only a short taxi ride away.

The sandy and pebbled beaches, warm climate and temperate waters make Kotor an ideal place for families and there are plenty of opportunities for you to swim in the sea, which is only a short walk from your hotel. In the town itself, you will be able to explore the winding cobbled streets and look around the piazzas with their numerous churches, restaurants, and shops. 

For a country that’s about the size of Wales, Montenegro punches above its weight when it comes to scenery and national parks. With so much to see, you will relocate to the mountain town of Žabljak to enjoy the wonders and untouched nature of Durmitor National Park for two nights during your stay. Highlights include rafting through the Tara Canyon – the deepest river canyon in Europe – and orienteering around spectacular mountain lakes.

For those staying at Hotel Marija 1, your hotel is just a short walk from the scenic shoreline of the fjord and you may want to wander some of the beautifully scenic routes that take in this ancient town in your free time. After settling in, dinner will be held at one of the most popular local restaurants in the small town, offering your first taste of traditional Montenegrin cuisine. For those opting to upgrade to Hotel Splendido, you will stay in the small village of Prcanj, on the opposite side of the bay to Kotor town, but right on the shoreline and in close walking distance of a small beach and local restaurants. Kotor is only a short taxi ride away. Dinner will be served in your hotel this evening. [1] => This first day in Montenegro has been designed to allow you to relax and enjoy your stunning new surroundings before the pace increases later on in the week.   You will spend today visiting some of the picturesque beaches around Kotor, enjoying time at each and having the chance to swim and snorkel in the clear waters with your family. [2] => Today you will visit one of the most beautiful areas in Montenegro; the Lovćen National Park. One of your first stops is a monument which was built to honour one of the country’s most popular rulers. Situated on a mountain peak, this is a truly jaw-dropping location and offers views across all of Montenegro’s borders – a great spot for a family photo.  From here you will drive to a local restaurant to enjoy a traditional Montenegrin lunch. After lunch, it is time for an adrenaline-filled high ropes adventure in the tree tops. There are numerous courses to choose from and following instructions, you will set off on the most appropriate course for your ability. There are zip wires, climbs, rope ladders and many more obstacles to enjoy during your time at the park. [3] => There will be an early start this morning as you temporarily relocate and head up to the small town of Zabljak, situated at 1450m, on Mount Durmitor. Zabljak is your base for the next two nights so you can enjoy all that this region has to offer. We can assure you that this area is well worth a visit as you will spend today and tomorrow exploring the Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The park offers a stunning natural landscape of carved limestone and is home to a varied range of mammals, as well as birds and butterflies, so there will be much wildlife for your children to keep an eye out for!  Your first activity is a thrilling white-water rafting experience. Upon arrival at the Tara River, you will be kitted out and the rafting fun begins. The river cuts right through the Tara Canyon making it a popular spot for rafting and it is easy to see why! This is Europe’s deepest river canyon and the scenery is utterly spectacular.  Lunch will be served after your rafting trip and you will have the chance to explore the town of Zabljak. [4] => Today provides the chance to explore two of the most delightful areas of the Durmitor National Park – Black Lake and Snake Lake.  Black Lake is edged by mountains on one side and deep forests on the other, providing incredible scenery. You will follow the trail around the perimeter of the lake, weaving in and out of the forest paths and hopefully having the chance to spot some of the local flora and fauna.  You will then be challenged with the task of navigating to your next location; your guide will give you an introduction to orienteering before you test your skills and set off to find Snake Lake, deeper in the forest. The name "Snake Lake" is taken from the gnarled roots of the trees that surround the lake, which look like snakes slithering along the ground. It's an utterly stunning location with towering mountains and crystal clear waters; a great spot for a family adventure. [5] => This morning, you will check out of your accommodation in Zabljak and enjoy a day exploring the scenery of the Durmitor National Park, before heading back to Kotor.  A short hike will give you access to some of the best vistas out across this dramatic landscape.  You will then enjoy a chairlift ride to the summit of Savin Kuk at a height of 2330m, a very enjoyable way to ascend a mountain. From the top, you should be able to see Black Lake below before you head back to Kotor.  You will have some free time in the town this afternoon before your evening meal. [6] => Back at the coast and we may well have saved the best until last! You will be paired up in teams of two before it is time to kayak on the Fjord of Kotor. As you paddle along, your guide will highlight points of interest in the town and pass on some of the local legends. You will stop off at one of the fjord’s sandy beaches for swimming and snorkelling.  The Bay of Kotor is a sheltered location which provides gentle sea conditions and a more relaxed kayaking experience.  You can expect to cover up to 6 km/4 miles at a leisurely pace. It normally takes around 3 hours and throughout the tour, you will have the chance to swim, snorkel and just stare around you at the bay’s beauty! This evening a farewell meal will be served at a local restaurant. You can pick up your car at any time so if you would like to explore Tromsø first there are plenty of activities on offer. We recommend visiting the Polar Park - the world’s northernmost park. Once you have your car, you will make your way to Narvik with Norway’s stunning scenery unveiling itself at every turn. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel, which is one of Northern Norway’s tallest buildings. The sky bar on the 15th floor gives you the best views of the surrounding mountains and fjords, and is the perfect spot to enjoy the Midnight Sun. Or you can venture further afield to the pretty fishing villages of Kabelvåg or Henningsvær or the excellent Viking museum at Borg. This evening we would recommend dining at oneone of Svolvær's many excellent restaurants. Lofoten is known for its fresh seafood, so be sure to try some of the local dishes, such as cod tongue or stockfish. [4] => Today following breakfast, you will embark on your longest drive of the trip. You will drive around 380 km, including two ferry rides which will take you around 6-7 hours. There is another route you can take to avoid the ferry crossing, however we feel it misses some of the many memorable sights along the way! Upon arrival at Senja, you will be greeted by this idyllic Norwegian fishing village as you make your way to the hotel surrounded by dramatic mountains and beautiful countryside. Here you will check in to your room and enjoy an evening meal in Restaurant Ukko with panoramic view of Lake Inari.  After dinner you may wish to take advantage of the extended daylight hours and enjoy a stroll along the lakeshore. [1] => After breakfast you will transfer to the nearby Husky Farm to meet the animal sso synonymous with Lapland. Along with the husky farm’s owner you will get to meet several beautiful husky dogs on this tour. Although these devoted canines’ biggest love is pulling a sled through the snow during winter, summertime training is crucial. You will learn about huskies and their way of life in the North at the farm. You will learn all about how their handlers are so devoted to these dogs and their health and welfare and there may even be some puppies to meet as well. If you would like to upgrade this farm visit to include a hike with the dogs or joining one of their training tours which include pulling a kart on wheels, then please speak to the travel experts for further information or pricing. After visiting the farm, you will transfer back to Inari for a free afternoon. Alternatively, there are several hiking routes around the hotel which reception can advise or you can hire a fat bike locally to explore the quiet road which follows the lakeside. [2] => Following breakfast, you will transfer the short distance to Inari village to visit the Sámi Siida Museum.  Here you will have time to explore this newly renovated museum with lots of fascinating information about the local area including its history, the indigenous Sámi culture, and local flora and fauna.  The museum is designed to give you an insight into this magical part of the world across each season of the year. After a picnic lunch you will head out on a cruise on the stunning Lake Inari. With its 3000 rocky islets blanketed in birches and pines, Inari Lake boasts incredibly beautiful and tranquil surroundings to sit back and soak in. You will also be able to see Ukko island which held a special importance to the Sámi people and is included in the exhibit at the Siida museum. The second half of your trip takes place in Sommaroy, known fondly as ‘Summer Island’. You’ll be staying within easy walking distance of Tromsø’s many restaurants where you could try some of the local dishes. [1] => Following breakfast, you will experience genuine Arctic wildlife such as sea eagles on a cruise through the magnificent fjords that surround Tromsø. You will leave Tromso behind and soon be in picture postcard scenery, while a selection of snacks are provided (including fresh fish) as you. This is the perfect combination of adventure and comfort as your vessel has a warm cabin if required but you can also stay on deck to admire the unmissable views. Your crew will feature experienced fishermen from the area and these local “pirates” will tell you old tales and traditions that their ancestors have passed on through generations. If you wish you will even get the opportunity to fish and sample the catch! This tour last approximately 4-5 hours. Back on land, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon free to do as you please before your sailing excursion this evening.  Tonight, the tour will start at a nearby location where it’s time to make the most of the glorious golden sunlight that bathes the surrounding nature during a stunning cruise. The bus journey allows you to see more of Norway’s beautiful landscape as you make your way into the traditional fishing community of Sommarøy.  Your hotel overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, right in the heart of this remote, yet thriving coastal community.  Enjoy lunch in the hotel in a beautiful setting, situated by the sea and serving food from the Arctic. Afterwards, why not take a stroll around the island – you can circumnavigate this little gem and its famed white sand beaches in about an hour, but please take your camera and allow time to take some picture of your stunning surroundings. To ensure you make the most of your stay in Tromsø, you’ll go on a guided city tour to uncover why the city has a second nickname; ‘The Gateway to the Arctic’. You’ll go on a journey through time, from the ice age to contemporary life in Tromsø, all while visiting the iconic destinations of the city.

[1] => Following breakfast, we have the perfect activity for those who love the outdoors. You will be taken on a guided walk through the birch forests accompanied by a four-legged hiking buddy. Huskies’ enthusiasm for the trail is infectious and you will soon leave the stresses of the modern world behind as you enjoy the peace and quiet of the sunlit woodlands. The hike is 1.5-2 hours and is followed by a campfire lunch, usually a Norwegian fish stew and cake (because you have earnt it!). After lunch, you will tour the dog yard and meet the puppies, and learn about the life of the dogs, their mushers and the competitive sport of sled dog racing. You will then return to Tromso where you can relax in preparation for the evening excursion or spend some time in this interesting town or perhaps visit the Fjellheisen Cable Car. Starting your trip in Bergen, at the UNESCO heritage site Bryggen, you’ll be immediately immersed in the fantastic history of the city. Later in your trip, you’ll get a chance to soak up the culture as you take part in a guided city walk to Bergen’s most iconic spots, listening to stories and soaking up spectacular views. 

It wouldn’t be a Norwegian break without getting up close to the fjords that draw so many travellers here and once you see their striking beauty, you’ll see why they garner such attention. To see the fjords in all of their glory, you’ll journey to the picturesque village of Flåm with sensational views right from your hotel, but it doesn’t stop there. You’ll also experience an exciting RIB safari where you’ll speed along the fjords, discovering cascading waterfalls and looking out for wildlife along the way. 

This trip is available year-round - if you’re travelling during the summer months (c.15th May-30th September), your journey from Bergen to Flam will be via catamaran and then returning on a railway journey through the mountains, which includes the scenic Flåmsbana route. If you are travelling outside of this time, you’ll enjoy the stunning railway journey both ways from Bergen.

You’ll check into the Zander K hotel just a few minutes walk from the UNESCO heritage site Bryggen. You could stay in the hotel for your dinner tonight or your central location puts you in the perfect place to discover one of the many restaurants in the city.  We recommend arriving on an early flight today (our Travel Experts can arrange this for you) so that you can enjoy Bergen and prepare for tomorrow’s trip to Flåm, which departs early in the morning. We can of course arrange an extra night in Bergen, or Flåm, should you wish. [1] => This morning, following an early breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel to transfer to the picturesque village of Flåm. If you are travelling during the summer months (c.15th May to 30th September), you’ll cruise along the longest fjord in Norway, Sognefjord, on a catamaran, departing at 8am. This crossing, taking approximately five and a half hours, is a spectacular way to experience the fantastic nature here. If you’re travelling outside of summer, you won’t miss out on the views as you travel via rail from Bergen to Flåm, changing at Myrdal to enjoy the scenic Flåmsbana route, through the high mountains and into the valleys, with extraordinary scenery along the way. The train journey from Bergen to Flåm is approximately 3.5 hours. Bergen train station is a 15-minute walk away from your hotel, and you can add on a taxi as an optional extra if preferred - please let us know at the time of booking, or alternatively, you can arrange this directly with the hotel when you arrive in Bergen. Once you arrive in Flåm, you’ll check into the Flåmsbrygga Hotel, situated right on the harbour for a quiet and peaceful spot with views of the fjord.  This afternoon, you’ll get the opportunity to see even more of this breathtaking nature during an exciting RIB safari. You’ll go through the Aurlandsfjord and to the entrance of the spectacular Nærøyfjord - a UNESCO World Heritage Site with steep mountainsides and cascading waterfalls. For 1 hr 30 minutes, you’ll be on the lookout for seals, porpoises, and eagles as you hear stories and tales from Norwegian history, all while experiencing some of the most beautiful nature in the world.  Following your time on the water, you’ll have the evening free to spend as you please in Flåm. [2] => Following breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel and return to Bergen on the Flåm Railway, one of the world’s steepest train rides taking you through the Flåm valley and up to the high mountains in Myrdal station. Take in the panoramic views of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in Norway. Changing at Myrdal, you will then take the train straight to Bergen. Arriving in Bergen, your hotel is just two minutes walk away. Returning to Bergen, you’ll check into your hotel before meeting with your local guide this afternoon to take a history and culture walk around the city. As you stroll through the streets of Bergen, you’ll gain an insight into the city’s fascinating history and hear stories from your knowledgeable guide. Your tour finishes up on the top of Mount Fløyen. Take in the great view of the city. This is the perfect place to take pictures!
