[description] => Lose yourself in nature, activities, and culture in the Azores with this brilliant seven-night active family summer getaway, based in the city of Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel Island.

[0] => Welcome to the Azores! You and the family will be picked up and transferred in no time to your hotel. Check in and settle in for the night.
[1] => Eat a substantial breakfast before an exciting, full-day outing: the Sete Cidades Adventure Tour! This takes you to the Western side of São Miguel Island to the famed Lagoa das Sete Cidades or Lake of the Seven Cities, and along the way, you will stop at some viewpoints. The deep crater lake is divided by a bridge, virtually forming two lakes that showcase different colours and are known as the Blue and Green Lakes – a wonderful environment where everyone will spend the day mountain biking and kayaking. There will be a picnic lunch break along the way.
In the evening, you will be treated to a lovely welcome dinner with a spread of Azorean specialties. Our friendly guide will be on hand to answer any questions about the rest of your holiday.
[2] => After breakfast, you can look forward to a fabulous whale-watching tour to fill up the morning. There aren’t many places which are as highly regarded for this pastime as the Azores – the islands have even had visits from National Geographic and the BBC!
Expert biologists will give you full briefings on safety measures and responsible whale watching before you are taken out over the water by Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) (restrictions may apply for pregnant women and people with lower back problems). Depending on luck and the time of year,there are over 25 different whale and Dolphin species that you might spot, as well as other marine creatures. Life vests and waterproofs are provided.
You will then be transported in a converted fishing boat to the beautiful islet of Vila Franca: a green ring around a crater lagoon. You and the kids can go swimming in this marvellous natural reserve. Snorkelling equipment is not provided, so we recommend bringing your own. Species to look for include rainbow wrasses and Guinea-fowl puffers.
[3] => Today is a volcanic culture day! Once you have had breakfast, your first stop will be at one of the oldest remaining tea plantation and factory in Europe, the Gorreana Tea Estates. In addition to looking around, you will also get to sample their produce. It is a must for tea-loving families.
From there, it is onto Caldeiras das Furnas with its fumaroles and mineral water springs; they say the water has a different flavour in each one! On the way, you will stop at a viewpoint.
For lunch, you will all be served cozido, a traditional Portuguese stew with a succulent selection of meats slow-cooked with locally-produced vegetables. Keeping with the geothermal theme of the day, it will be cooked using only steam from the surrounding earth.
Once you have all feasted, everyone will be taken to the famous Terra Nostra Botanical Garden, which showcases a rich variety of native and foreign plants; it is a very pretty place to stroll around. Finishing off this visit is the opportunity to get into a naturally heated pool, with water rich in iron. At a temperature of between 35°C to 40°C, it makes for a super-relaxing experience.
Returning to Ponta Delgada, you will make a couple of stop-offs to take in awesome coastal views; cameras at the ready!
[4] => This morning following breakfast, you’ll head to ‘Quinta do Agricultor’ for a true Azorean experience on the farm. Locals, Eugenio & Gorete, will greet you on arrival for fun filled ‘day in the life of’ adventure. This husband and wife team are hugely passionate and will share their wealth of
knowledge and enthusiasm for their traditional way of life. During your visit, as well as learning about Azorean culture, you will have the opportunity to meet an array of farm animals and even try milking a cow! The ethos of Quinta do Agricultor is that guests will arrive as visitors and leave as friends.
The afternoon will be left free for you and your family to spend as you wish. You can stay back at the harbour and grab lunch at a local restaurant before being transferred back to São Miguel Park, or take a transfer back straight away. If the morning’s swimming hasn’t been enough, why not have a session in one of the hotel pools? You might also like to leave the hotel behind and explore the streets of Ponta Delgada.
[5] => This day’s activities transport you to different parts of São Miguel Island. Tuck into breakfast before being taken to Gruta do Carvao. At almost two kilometres long, this is the longest tunnel of lava on the island – perfect for budding adventurers! After exploring the lava tunnel, you will visit Santa Barbara Beach. Here you can relax on its black sands and take a swim in the ocean.
After lunch, the afternoon brings many more natural sights with a journey to Lagoa do Fogo, the ‘Lagoon of Fire’. You will all be blown away by the splendour of this natural reserve area. A drive to Caldeira Velha waterfall follows, with the chance to bathe in its warm, iron-rich waters. There will also be a look around Caldeiras and its billowing fumaroles.
[6] => Following breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to make the most of your final full day in the Azores with an unforgettable canyoning adventure in the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park. This location is one of the islands most stunning natural areas, filled with lush greenery, cascading waterfalls and hidden rock pools.
After being kitted out with the necessary equipment and a full safety briefing from your experienced guide, you’ll descend through the canyon using a mix of techniques. Experience sliding down smooth rock chutes, jumping into crystal clear pools and abseiling beside waterfalls, all under the careful guidance of your instructors.
There are routes suitable for a variety of confidence levels, so whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned adventurer, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
[7] => Eat your last breakfast at the hotel before being transferred to the airport for your flight home.

[name] => Madeira - Whales, Dolphins and Volcanic Landscapes
[title] => A Magical Madeira Adventure Holiday For Families
[ordering] => 0
[code] => 4037
[intro] => This seven-night adventure to Madeira includes a variety of activities, which will excite all of the family. Visit the magical volcanic caves of Sao Vicente and swim in the lava pools, or volcanic beach at Seixal. Explore the island by jeep, foot and kayak, as you drive, boat and walk through colour-drenched landscapes and sun-drenched bays. Dolphin and whale watching are the icing on the cake.
[description] => Madeira is the perfect place for families to enjoy a holiday of discovery: warm waters, sun-filled days and exciting activities make this a fantastic place to explore.
You’ll be based in Funchal, the island’s small and fascinating capital and from here you can take part in all sorts of adventures. On your first day, you will explore the island as you enjoy a jeep adventure from one amazing viewpoint to another, over mountains and through valleys and along the winding coastline as you go! Stopping for a walk in the colourful mountains of Madeira, you’ll head to the stunning Balcões viewpoint, which looks out to the island’s central mountain range. From here, you’ll then go for a short walk along one of the island’s many levadas, traversing across the forested hills, filled with emerald green trees and bursting with colourful flowers and bubbling streams.
Moving from land to sea, you’ll have the chance to explore the coves and bays of the island by sea kayak, as you paddle across the beautiful blue sea in search of wildlife and adventure. You’ll then take to the seas again, aboard a RIB in search of marine life. Madeira is renowned for its whale and dolphin watching, so there’s no way we could leave this out during your time here. The boat trip will take you across the waters that surround Madeira and if nature is on your side, you’ll even get the chance to snorkel with the wild dolphins that call these waters home! A truly brilliant experience, this is sure to leave your family with fun-filled, lasting memories.
After the excitement of the ocean, you’ll head deep into the island for a half-day of family-friendly canyoning. It’s a fantastic way to explore the island from another point of view – water slides, refreshing pools and rappels will certainly keep the family entertained!
Back on the road you will explore the Serra D’Água, the dramatic valley dividing the massif from the only plateau on the island. This tour takes you to the lush northwest, where waterfalls melt into the ocean and lava has been shaped into unique pools, perfect for a refreshing swim. You cannot help but appreciate the power of nature in this landscape dominated by ancient forests, but you will also be able to walk alongside the famous man-made channels - called Levada’s – which supply the island’s farms with plentiful water and are the basis for its amazing array of fruit and vegetables.
Finally, you’ll take to the trails as you enjoy an easy biking tour along a wide levada, surrounded by luscious forest; a fantastic way to explore the famous irrigation channels of Madeira!
We offer a variety of hotels across Madeira which not only helps with availability during the summer months but also means you can choose the best option and facilities for your family’s needs. Please see the accommodation section for more on these options.

[0] => Arriving into Funchal, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Please note that the order and timings of activities listed within the agenda is subject to change; your final itinerary will be provided to you on arrival.
[1] => Canyoning is a fantastic way to experience the island’s landscape from a different perspective and it will no doubt leave your family grinning from ear to ear, as you navigate your way along the stream.
You’ll be kitted out with wet suits and canyoning shoes, with your swimming costume worn underneath. It’s then an uphill walk, followed by a steep path down through the trees to the start point.
It’s the perfect canyon for novices, with a series of easy slides, pool jumps and rappels to enjoy. Our expert local guides have been working in these canyons for years and they know every little foot and hand hold there is, so you’ll be in safe hands throughout.
You’ll be guided through the canyon at a pace suited to the group’s ability, taking in the incredible scenery as you work your way downstream. Filled with trees, plants and colourful flowers, it’s a wonderful place to explore – the canyon is often filled with fennel (funcho in Portuguese), which is where the name Funchal, the island’s capital, comes from.
Please note that children must be over 140cm tall to participate in the canyoning.
[2] => Today it’s time to explore the island by bike. Although we have selected a family-friendly trail which follows a wide and gentle Levada, we do recommend previous experience of cycling and that children be 8 and above for this experience. Please speak to our travel experts if this trip is not a good fit for your family as other options will be available.
You’ll cycle for approximately two hours, as your expert guide leads you through the forest on this easy route which still offers amazing sea views.
Cycling past towering trees and plants bursting with colour, this is another fantastic way to enjoy the stunning flora of Madeira in a wonderful part of the island.
Each activity this week allows you and your family to explore different parts of the island by foot, kayak, bike, boat and jeep, giving you a wonderful, all-encompassing Madeiran experience; hopefully filled with an abundance of family-fuelled fun along the way!
[3] => Your activity today will see you head out on the Atlantic for what will hopefully be one of your most memorable activities: whale watching and snorkelling with dolphins! If luck has been on your side, you may have already seen marine life during your kayaking this morning, but this afternoon’s adventure will be different and more personal in many ways.
You will head out via RIB (Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boat) in search of your aquatic friends. Your onboard marine biologist will tell you about the marine life of the islands while your captain searches for whales and dolphins. The waters that surround the islands are rich with life and throughout the year, 28 different species can be found, including: Atlantic-spotted, bottlenose, risso's and stripped dolphins, as well as pilot, bryde and fin whales.
Hopefully nature will be on your side today and give you the chance to get close to the action and excitement, as the dolphins follow your boat. If the conditions are right, you may also get the chance to join the dolphins in the sea, as you snorkel alongside the boat; a fantastically amazing experience for all of the family. Although you may not get to see the dolphins as close as you would in a marine park, the experience is far superior as you get to see them in their natural environment.
Please note that snorkelling with the dolphins depends on the weather conditions at the time, as well as the dolphins’ behaviour and there is a chance that it might not be possible. There is also a possibility that not all members of the group will be able to snorkel with the dolphins before they move on, as only 6 people are allowed in the sea at any one time.
[4] => Today you will head out to sea to experience sea kayaking around the coves and bays of the island. This is a great way to see the coastline of Madeira, as you paddle across the deep blue sea. Keep your eyes peeled, as you never know, you might just catch a glimpse of some marine life which can include parrotfish, trumpetfish, turtles and even manta rays.
You will be kayaking for approximately two hours this morning. The kayaks are sit-ons which can accommodate two adults and one child and you will have plenty of time to swim and snorkel in the clear waters of the Garajau Nature Reserve, which is home to a variety of coastal species.
[5] => A full day of excitement and adventure awaits as you explore the northern part of Madeira.
You will be picked up from your hotel this morning and journey into the mountains, through deep ravines, pre-historic forests and picturesque villages.
Following this, you will stop for lunch in a local restaurant (not included) with a chance to experience some of the island’s flavours, then it is on to the natural lava pools at Porto Moniz. The saltwater lava pools were naturally created by volcanic eruptions and have since filled with seawater to create the perfect swimming area, with crystal-clear waters; a wonderfully fun experience for the family!
You will enjoy a walk along one of the near gravity-defying canals that supply water throughout the island, before heading back to your hotel for approximately 5-5:30 pm.
[6] => A jeep expedition is a brilliant way to journey through the mountainous terrain and it will no doubt excite the family as you weave through the ravines and wind along the coastline. The island is filled with natural sights and viewpoints, from stunning plateaus to jagged mountain peaks, it is one big natural wonder.
After a first stop at the bay where the Portuguese landed in 1419/20, in the southeast coast, this tour continues along the ancient royal footpath, where our sight is captured by the geometry of the oldest terraces of the island, along the beaten tracks crossing the indigenous forest. You will be amazed at the isolated rural nature of the villages we will visit. This is a tour rich in culture, with some of the most beautiful landscapes you can set your eyes on and breathtaking trails that will take you from sea level to Madeira’s highest mountains.
Your jeep adventure will last the full day, starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm (approximately). Upon returning to your hotel, why not explore Funchal and eat out at one of the city’s many restaurants tonight.
[7] => Sadly the time has come for you to return home today. After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.

[name] => A Volcanic Wonderland
[title] => Dolphin And Whale Watching Holiday in the Azores Islands
[ordering] => 32
[code] => 5512
[intro] => Experience the best of the Azores with this seven-night holiday on São Miguel Island. Dolphin and whale watching, and venturing underground through wondrous volcanic surroundings are just some of the experiences included.
[description] => Ocean wildlife, volcanic culture, and outdoor activities: this seven-night Azores holiday to the island of São Miguel puts an exotic twist on your typical European getaway.
Marine animals inspire awe in just about everyone, and seeing them in their natural habitat is one experience that is sure to feature on your bucket list. Our itinerary allows you to tick it off three times – you will watch for whales and dolphins from a tour boat and snorkel close to a colourful variety of fish and other underwater fauna when snorkelling* at the islet of Vila Franca.
The rich volcanic heritage of the Azores is something you will be able to enjoy first-hand. You will bathe in a naturally heated spring at the Terra Nostra Botanical Garden. You will also be able to taste a ‘Cozido das Furnas’ stew – an Azorean piece of geothermal gastronomy that puts a twist on the traditional Portuguese ‘cozido’ by cooking it with natural steam.
The extraordinary island environments are perfect settings for activities. You will kayak on the crater lakes of the Sete Cidades Lagoon and cycle in the surrounding area. Slower-paced activities include walking through part of Sao Miguel’s longest lava tunnel and relaxing in the warm Caldeira Velha waterfall.
You will stay in the modern Hotel Canadiano or, if you have upgraded, in São Miguel Park Hotel, Marina Atlântico or the Azor Grand Hotel. All the hotels are located in the coastal town of Ponta Delgada.
*Snorkelling equipment is not provided, so we recommend bringing your own.

[0] => Reaching João Paulo II Airport, you will be collected and transferred to your hotel. Check in, unpack and relax – your Azorean adventure is about to begin.
[1] => A filling breakfast will have you all set for the Sete Cidades Adventure Tour. This day-long excursion takes you to ‘Lagoa das Sete Cidades’ on the west side of São Miguel Island. The ‘Lagoon of Seven Cities’ consists of two blueish-green crater lakes ringed by trees.
On the way, you will stop at various viewpoints to enjoy this beautiful landscape. One of the stops will be at the Vista do Rei, probably the most famous viewpoint of Sao Miguel Island from where you can enjoy the views of the two lakes and the surrounding landscape.
When you reach the lakes, you can cycle over a largely flat ten-kilometre trail, of which ten minutes will be spent moving uphill or you can kayak over the sparkling lake.
A picnic lunch is included today.
Back at the hotel, you can relax before heading out and sampling the local cuisine (not included).
[2] => Breakfast is followed by a morning whale-watching tour. You will usually enjoy the whale watching from a catamaran, however, some trips will be in a RIB boat. If you have a preference, please inform us in advance (restrictions may apply for pregnant women and people with lower back problems).
It is no understatement to say that the Azores are one of the best places in the world for this activity – so much so that everyone from the National Geographic to the BBC has paid visits.
You will receive an in-depth briefing on safety measures and responsible observation prior to heading out on the tour; life vests and waterproofs will be provided (except on the catamaran). Depending on luck, there will be a range of cetaceans that you might see. July and August are good months for spotting beaked and Atlantic whales, as well as striped dolphins. Sperm whales are also known to make an appearance at this time while bottlenose and common dolphins can be seen all year round.
Lunch will be had in Vila Franca do Campo, a pleasant southern town. A refitted fishing boat will then transport you to the splendid islet of Vila Franca, which is a circle of green around a crater lagoon that is open to the sea. Snorkelling equipment is not provided, so we recommend bringing your own if you wish to go in to look at life under the water. Species found here include small red scorpionfish, rainbow wrasses, and Guinea-fowl puffers.
[3] => Learn about the volcanic heritage of the Azores with today’s thematic tour to Furnas. After breakfast, your first stop of the day will be a highlight for tea-lovers. You will be taken to the Gorreana Tea Estates, one of Europe’s oldest remaining tea plantations. In addition to seeing the growing areas, you will have an opportunity to try some of the produce.
You will then head to the Caldeiras das Furnas, where you will see the famous fumaroles and mineral springs. Make sure you try the water from each spring. You might notice the variety in tastes because of the different minerals present.
At lunch, you will get to try ‘Cozido das Furnas’, the classic Portuguese ‘cozido’ stew of slow-cooked meats and vegetables with an Azorean twist: preparation using natural steam from the ground.
Following that, there will be a look around the exceptional Terra Nostra Garden. This visit will finish with the chance to get into the iron-rich waters of a geothermal pool, which has a soothing temperature between 35°C to 40°C. (Please take old swimming costumes as the mineral water will stain them a light brown colour).
[4] => We have left today free for you to spend as you please. Why not explore the harbour area, or choose an additional activity from our ‘personalise’ section.
[5] => Today, you will enjoy amazing views of Lagoa do Fogo, the shimmering ‘Lake of Fire.’ Lagoa do Fogo is part of a marvellous natural reserve that stuns all with its beauty and the lake is one of the most beautiful lakes on the island.
Travelling via minibus will enable you to visit a viewpoint high above the vivid blue waters and then descend to the lake itself, stopping to bathe in a thermal pool en route. You can also visit the Salto do Cabrito waterfall – although it should be noted this can only be done on foot.
[6] => Following breakfast, you have a free day to see more of São Miguel, also known as “The Green Island”.
You could remain in the area and explore Ponta Delgada on foot or book an excursion locally.
[7] => After a final breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to João Paulo II Airport to catch your direct flight home.

[name] => A Three Island Tour
[title] => A Tour Of The Azores Islands
[ordering] => 47
[code] => 5514
[intro] => Spend ten nights travelling around the Azores island ‘triangle’ of Faial, São Jorge and Pico. Guided day tours will show you all the highlights, from the great volcanic Caldeira crater to the forested slopes and waterfalls of Sao Jorge and Europe’s only coffee plantation. You could also add further land and water-based activities to complete your stay.
[description] => Situated in the centre of the Azores archipelago, the islands of Faial, São Jorge, and Pico make a triangle rich in natural beauty and local culture. This ten-night holiday gives you a full introduction to the region, with a few nights in each location and visits to the prime attractions.
On a tour of Faial, you will see the mighty volcanic crater of Caldeira which rises above the island. There will be a trip to the sea-facing Capelinhos volcano and the iconic Ponta dos Capelinhos lighthouse which stands below. While exploring Sao Jorge, you can look forward to the greenery of Sete Fontes Forest Park and the picture-perfect viewpoints of Fajã dos Cubres and Fajã do Ouvidor, as well as a series of welcoming local villages with handicrafts and traditional cooking.
On Pico, your guides will showcase the best the island has to offer. You will visit Portugal's longest lava tube which is over 3 miles long, and witness rich bird and plant life and stunning views of the ocean and neighbouring islands.
The natural environment of the Azores makes it perfect for outdoor activities, so we have included a scenic hike to Caldeira do Santo Cristo. You can also add additional Faial-based hikes to your itinerary – these include a walk around the Caldeira crater and a journey along the Levada aqueduct route. Please see the ‘Personalise’ section for more information.
You can also book to go whale and dolphin watching – a must-try activity in this part of the world, which is famed for its marine mammal life. Our optional activity selection also features thrilling canyoning and sea kayaking trips – more information can be found in the ‘Personalise’ section.
You will travel between the islands by ferry, taking in ocean vistas as you go. Throughout the trip, your accommodation will be in hotels based on or close to the coast, adding an Atlantic touch to your stay.

[0] => On arrival, you will meet your driver and transferred to Internacional Azores Boutique Hotel, which faces the Atlantic waters. This evening is left free to allow you some time to settle in. Once you’ve checked in, why not head to one of the nearby restaurants for a pleasant seaside dinner?
[1] => After your first Azorean breakfast, you will be treated to a day tour of Faial by minibus or van (depending on the group size). Your guide will take you to the volcanic Caldeira, an immense crater from which you can look out to the ocean and admire the neighbouring Pico Island.
A trip will also be made to the volcano of Capelinhos on the tip of the Capelo peninsula, as well as to the famous Ponta dos Capelinhos lighthouse and the volcano information centre that sits at its feet. See the newest section of Faial Island, its dark, rocky terrain was formed in 1957 during an eruption. Lunch is included today.
Returning to your hotel, you can freshen up before heading out for dinner.
[2] => Having had breakfast, you will be transferred to the harbour for a ferry ride to São Jorge via Pico Island (ferry departs at around 9 am - time is subject to change and takes approximately 50 minutes). Have your cameras at the ready for snapshots of the Atlantic as you make your way across.
After being taken to your hotel and checking in, you can get straight to island activities. Abseil down waterfalls and slide along streams during a session of canyoning or you can take numerous hikes, in the area, and enjoy all the island has to offer. All these optional activities can be booked with us in advance – please see the ‘Personalise’ section for more information.
You will either stay at Hotel São Jorge Garden or can upgrade to an apartment at Cantinho das Buganvilias. Please see the ‘Accommodation’ section and speak to our Travel Experts to find out more.
[3] => Breakfast leads into a day tour of São Jorge (either by van or minibus - depending on the group size), featuring several of its most prominent sites. Marvel at the handicraft work of Ribeira do Nabo before continuing to the welcoming villages of Urzelina and Manadas. A stop will be made at the eighteenth-century Santa Barbara Church before breaking for lunch in a Calheta village restaurant.
You will then spend the afternoon being shown the pretty parish of Ribeira Seca and the coffee plantation of Fajã dos Vimes. This comprehensive tour also includes trips to the viewpoints of Fajã dos Cubres and Fajã do Ouvidor, not to mention the Sete Fontes Forest Park with its splendid natural sights.
There’ll be the opportunity to take a dip in a natural pool this afternoon, so be sure to pack swimwear and a towel!
You can finish off the day by visiting a local restaurant or trying your hotel’s cuisine.
[4] => Today you'll have two options available for you as you explore Caldeira do Santo Cristo.
This area is stunning and offers spectacular coastal views and exotic flora and fauna.
The first option is a truly rewarding 10km walk. After a transfer of around 45 minutes you will begin you walk at a height of 700m on the Serra do Topo hillside. The route is initially steep as you descend (so this is ideal is best suited to regular walkers as walking poles and sturdy boots are recommended) but the views are well worth it and the gradient does become more gentle. When you reach the Caldeira do Santo Cristo you can take a dip in the lagoon and enjoy a picnic lunch as you will have passed the 6km mark. The lagoon is formed by a natural sea wall of volcanic rock. From here is it a further 4km to Fajã dos Cubres, where the walk ends. Fajã translates as ‘strip of land’ and you will see that this location is aptly named as it is a small strip of flat land with the peaks on one side and the sea on the other.
Option two is a relaxed walk from Fajã dos Cubres to Caldeira do Santo Cristo which is much flatter (100m in elevation approximately) and covers a total of 8km (4km each way). Lunch and swimming at Caldeira are both included.
Please let our Travel Experts know your preferred option at the time of booking. Minimum group size for both walking options is 2 people.
[5] => After breakfast, you will be taken to the harbour for the ferry to Pico Island, once again being treated to beautiful views of the water. The ferry ride will take approximately 50 minutes in total, following which you will be transferred to your hotel (approximately 30 minutes).
Please note that depending on the availability and travel day the ferry will either depart in the afternoon or in the evening.
[6] => Breakfast will be followed by a tour of Pico Island.
Your trip today will take you to the island's central plateau where you will experience beautiful views of the ocean and the volcanic origins of the island What was once a hostile volcanic hotspot is now a celebration of biodiversity with hundreds of native plant species now making it their home. Enjoy panoramic views from Pico da Urze along the way.
Following a picnic lunch, the adventure continues with a guided tour of Portugal’s longest lava tube, Gruta das Torres, which can be explored on foot. Torches and helmets are provided during your visit to this geological wonder.
[7] => With breakfast done, you can spend a full day in the Azores trying out more exciting optional activities. The archipelago is internationally famed as a site for whales and dolphins, and no visit to this part of the world is complete without a trip to spot them in the wild. Try a stunning whale and dolphin watching tour and feel the thrill of seeing these majestic animals in their natural habitat. Even better, you can book to swim with dolphins and get a closer experience. Please see the ‘Personalise’ section for more information.
[8] => Following breakfast, it’s time to head out on the beautiful waters again for your ferry ride back to Faial. The crossing takes approximately 30 minutes and is a brilliant vantage point to admire the islands from. Once you arrive at the island, you will be transferred to your hotel.
After checking in, you’ll have a free afternoon to spend as you please. See our ‘Personalise’ tab for more information or talk to one of our Travel Experts to discuss the best ways to fill your time.
[9] => With breakfast finished, you will have the day free. You might like to explore more of Horta or to simply unwind in the hotel Jacuzzi. Better still, you can continue your adventures on Faial by booking an optional half-day or a full day hike on one of the island’s scenic routes. You can return to the Caldeira and walk around its rim or follow the old Levada aqueduct system ringed by greenery. Please see the ‘Personalise’ section for more information.
[10] => After a last Azorean breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your journey home.

Do I need a high level of fitness for a multi-activity summer holiday?
No. None of our multi-activity holidays require a high level of fitness and we will provide information on the length of each activity as well as its difficulty.
You also don’t need any prior experience of an activity unless we clearly state this is required, as all our activities come with dedicated guides and experts to help teach you the ropes.
Our expert guides are the best in the business and, as ever, your safety always comes first.
Summer activity holiday destinations
In the summer months, many regions offer a wide variety of activity options for all levels. Some of our itineraries include the activity highlights we feel you simply have to try and other holidays are left completely open for you to choose how you wish to experience the destination.
In Gozo for example, we offer you the chance to choose from a range of activities such as sea kayaking, cycling, climbing and hiking. You might want to fill up every minute with exciting activities or you could have a combination of active experiences with relaxing moments such as enjoying the delightful cuisine, exploring the picturesque coastline or delving into the island’s history and culture.
In both the Azores and Madeira, you’ll explore on land and at sea for an all-encompassing experience of these brilliant archipelagos. Activities on these striking islands include walks, cycling and kayaking as well as some optional extras such as canyoning and full day hikes.
Or perhaps you’d like to visit Croatia, where a combination of historic cities and island havens await. There are many different activities on offer to help you explore this wonderful region, including cycling, snorkelling and paddle boarding.

For families with a sense of adventure, volcanic and geothermal landscapes offer a fascinating way to explore how the Earth is shaped. These destinations combine striking scenery with accessible exploration, making them ideal for introducing children to the power and beauty of the natural world.
In Tenerife, families can explore dramatic volcanic terrain, from lava fields to towering peaks, all within a well-developed and easy-to-navigate setting. The Azores offer a greener, more varied landscape, where crater lakes, hot springs and geothermal activity create a constantly changing environment to discover. Madeira complements this with rugged mountains and impressive rock formations, offering scenic viewpoints and gentle exploration opportunities.
With guided excursions and well-planned itineraries, these trips ensure that even the most dramatic landscapes remain accessible, educational and enjoyable for travellers of all ages.
