Are you a fan of winter breaks? Join the club. Between graduating with a BA in English Literature and a two-year stint as a Covid tester, Abel has been lucky enough to travel extensively around Scandinavia in the winter, picking up both a liquorice habit and a passable level of Swedish on the way. Top travel tips include investing in fancy knitwear, a good flask and learning to say ‘thank you’ in the local language - helpfully, ‘tak’ works for most.
As well as travelling Iceland extensively, Abel spent a winter journeying from Denmark to Sweden and Norway via train. As well as spending far too much money at the giftshop of the Abba Museum in Stockholm and marvelling at the snowdrifts growing higher the further north she ventured, she had the amazing experience of watching the Northern Lights in Norway. Upon returning years later, she spent an amazing summer camping under the Midnight Sun, fully experiencing the unique wonders of the Arctic skies.
