Glass Igloos

Unbelievable accommodation

Glass igloos were built with one thing in mind – to provide an extraordinary view of the Arctic night sky and with any luck, the Northern Lights. With large glass windows overhead, the igloos (sometimes known as glass bubbles) provide a remarkable vantage point right from the comfort of your bed.

Glass igloos and the Northern Lights

What makes the glass igloos that we feature so special, is that they sit in an area of Finnish Lapland known as the Aurora Zone. The Northern Lights track record here is exceptionally good and with conditions on your side, your night’s stay will include a viewing of Mother Nature’s greatest displays.

Though the celestial light show isn’t a guarantee, a memorable night’s stay definitely is. Built from insulated glass so that the windows stay frost-free, the glass igloos offer a unique Arctic accommodation without compromising on comfort. They are a combination of an age-old traditional igloo design with a modern touch.

Glass igloo features and facilities

Fitted with either low-level curtains or frosted glass, the glass igloos offer more privacy than you may first think. They also each have a discreet toilet (typically a very modern composting toilet) and some come equipped with small washrooms. Glass igloos in Finland

Add a glass igloo as an extra night to  our holidays in Finland or incorporate it into one of our holiday itineraries . As Finnish Lapland sees roughly 200 nights a year of Northern Lights, this is one of the best places for you to spend a night in a glass bubble.

Our Artisan Travel Experts all have first-hand experience of staying in a glass igloo and will be happy to discuss all options with you.. Whether you want to experience dog sledding in Luosto before returning to a cosy Arctic View Room for a night of stargazing, or you want to visit the Arctic animals in Ranua before searching for the Northern Lights from your Arctic Fox Igloo, our Experts can help find the holiday to suit you.

Aurora Domes – Glamping under the Northern Lights

We also offer Aurora Domes in Torassieppi and Jeris, Finnish Lapland for another great overnight experience. Influenced by the circular design of a traditional igloo but built and insulated for a comfortable stay, the structure of these domes is well thought-out. Once again, the design also ensures you have the best view of the night sky and hopefully, the Northern Lights.

Each Aurora Dome consists of a wood burning stove for a cosy warm stay and perfectly placed glass panels so that you can easily see the sky from your bed. They are decorated with a focus on huskies or reindeers, which are two of the most famous animals in Lapland.

If you would like to stay in an Aurora Dome, contact our Artisan Travel Experts today who can discuss your options and tell you their first-hand experience of their wonderful night’s stay.
