Log Cabins and Winter Cottages
Our range of log cabin based holidays provides a self-contained hideaway for you and a real ‘home from home’ in Lapland. They are ideal for couples, families and small groups as we have cabins which will accommodate between 2 and 7 people. For large groups, we can also provide much larger cabins to suit your needs.
We offer a range of different log cabin styles; from traditional log-built cabins with wood burning fires, to wooden cabins and cottages with more modern interiors, and a great deal in between. The benefits this style of accommodation offers to guests remains the same throughout; in principal, your own cosy space in which to relax after a day in the Great Outdoors.
The wonderful thing about our log cabin holidays is that you do not have to forego any of the conveniences provided by hotels, as your meals will be prepared and served in a restaurant nearby so you do not need to worry about the hassle of self-catering. In some destinations, there are small shops close by so that you pick up some drinks and snacks to take back to your cabin and enjoy at leisure. The joy of log cabin stays is further compounded by the fact that so many of them are situated in such stunning surroundings and have so many wonderful experiences to offer.
At Jeris in Finland, the delightful winter cottages are dotted around the forests that surround the main hotel, in an idyllic setting, they also offer wonderful facilities including their own saunas and log burning stoves. They are between 5 and 15 minutes away from the hotel restaurant and the walk back after your evening meal may even allow you to witness an Aurora display.
Torassieppi is one of Jeris’s sister hotels and offers rooms within winter cottages as well as detached wooden cabin accommodation, all on the edge of a stunning frozen lake. Here the food served in the restaurant focuses on local, organic produce and you are only a short walk from the reindeer farm, Torassieppi Winter Village and the wonderful Aurora Domes.
In Luosto in Finnish Lapland the traditional log cabins are compact but full of character and provide easy access to the nearby spa hotel, the ski slopes and the cross country skis trails – there is also a small supermarket in the village where guests can buy snacks and drinks to enjoy back at their cabin.
Further afield in Canada, the Yukon Province offers guests the chance to stay in the log cabin accommodation at Tagish Wilderness Lodge, deep in the wilderness and only accessible by ski plane. These hand crafted cabins offer a back to basics retreat in exceptional surroundings for a totally different experience.
All log cabins and cottages tend to be individually decorated and offer their own charms but the delightful experience of staying in one remains unchanged, whichever you choose. We offer a wealth of itineraries and tailor-made options to make sure that your log cabin holiday is ideal for your needs.
