About
Ivalo is a small village in the municipality of Inari, two miles south of Lake Inari (the fifth largest lake in Finland). With a population of around 4,000 people, the village is home to a handful of shops, cafés, and restaurants, as well as several hotels.
Many guests simple use Ivalo Airport as their access point to Eastern Lapland, but there is much more to this village than you may think.
Ivalo is surrounded by some of the most untouched wilderness in Europe and within seconds of leaving the village behind, you are surrounded by pristine scenery.
With snow-covered forests, fells and vast frozen lakes, this is a region which simply begs to be explored and the best way of doing this, in our opinion, is on a dog sled.
Our Three Day Husky Safari is a real treat for anyone looking for a taste of adventure. You’ll have your own team of dogs to look after and lead and you’ll cover approximately 50 and 30 kilometres respectively, over two of the days. This means that you will witness the true scale of this wilderness environment and build a strong bond with your eager huskies. Dog sledding in Finland is a must-do for any visit here and this expedition really shows off the best of the landscape.

Real Adventures
We work with the very comfortable Hotel Ivalo at the start and end of the holiday and during the safari, guests get to stay in some remote wilderness cabins. This may be roughing it slightly but you’ll enjoy a real adventure and will get stuck into life in the wild, collecting water from frozen lakes and lighting fires on which to cook. You’ll also have the chance to try a traditional wood-burning sauna at the cabin. As this is prime Aurora territory, there’s a strong chance of witnessing the Northern Lights should conditions be favourable.
Our dog sled holiday here has so much to offer those who would like an Arctic adventure and always receives rave reviews from our guests.
