Activities and the Midnight Sun
Given the cold darkness of the long winters of Finnish Lapland, it's only natural that the short summer season be wholly and passionately embraced. Summer here is a time of festivals, outdoor dining, fishing, hiking, kayaking and swimming. It is the time to fully appreciate the beauty of the surrounding nature and stepping outside to immerse yourself in the ever-present forests and lakes.
In Northern Finland, the summer season is short (lasting around three months) but has the bonus of gloriously long daylight hours which makes it seem all the more lengthy. The daily temperatures are usually above 10°C and can reach highs of 20°C to 30°C in peak season.
The non-setting sun in the northerly regions leads to the natural spectacle of the Midnight Sun and late into the evenings, everyday activities can still be enjoyed as you enjoy the reddish quality of the light which bathes everything in an overly lovely warm and bright light.
