- Michael Bell
Michael is the latest addition to the Artisan Travel Company and is a member of our Products and Operations team. Born in North East England he enjoyed numerous childhood trips to the stunning Northumberland Coast, where he developed a love and passion for travel from an early age.
After leaving university he was able to acquire a role teaching English in South Korea which opened up avenues for venturing to China, Japan and South East Asia.
After a brief return to the UK, Michael developed a passion for writing and photography before travelling to Australia where he spent two years. During this period, he was able to experience working within a barren outback wilderness which enhanced his photography skills, before travelling around the country. After completing his time in Australia, he then travelled extensively throughout Asia, spending two months in India before undertaking a six-week trip around Europe. This European trip allowed Michael to take a journey through history with trips to the medieval citadels of Transylvania in addition to the ancient architecture surrounding Rome and Athens.
Michael developed his writing skills through his online travel blog and thus his passion for both travel and writing grew to new levels. A final trip allowed Michael to venture to the tropical islands of the Philippines and Borneo and to travel widely around New Zealand and the USA before spending time in North Africa. Michael experienced a huge variety of activities including swimming with whale sharks, whale watching, sea kayaking and a boat trip down the exotic Kinabatangan River in search of Proboscis Monkeys. Perhaps his most memorable moment to date however, was taking a camel ride through the Sahara Desert and gazing upon the ancient pyramids of Giza.
