The island was so beautiful, we snorkelled with dolphins and whale watched. Tours were amazing. So well organised with exceptional guides.

Explore the Mediterranean with Artisan

The Mediterranean is Europe’s most popular holiday destination. However, we know from our extensive travels here that large scale tourism is concentrated in certain areas. Through our experience, we have discovered some still-hidden Mediterranean gems which we are thrilled to share with our clients. We go beyond the beaches and ensure that you witness some of the lesser-known (but no less fascinating or attractive) islands and sites which elude so many visitors. Essentially, if your idea of the perfect holiday is lying on a beach gentle grilling under a Mediterranean sun then it’s probably best that you stop reading now.

Our Mediterranean destinations include a splendid array of destinations such as the small but mighty Maltese island of Gozo, and the delights of Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast.

The focus throughout our holidays is on showcasing the local culture both past and present, highlighting the many colours of the destinations you are visiting. You will witness some of the ancient wonders of the world, attractive traditional towns, villages and historical sites and some of the most cosmopolitan and glittering modern towns and cities.

Midnight Sun – the light that never dies

The tilt of the Earth’s axis towards the sun during the summer months causes the 24 hours of daylight north of the Arctic Circle that is known as the Midnight Sun. Essentially, if you are standing on the Arctic Circle (66°30ʹN) the sun does not drop below the horizon from 12 June until 01 July.

As you go further north that period extends. For example, in Northern Norway, the sun doesn’t set on Tromsø from 20 May until 22 July and in the far-flung wilds of Svalbard, the residents have 24 hours of midnight sun from 20 April until 22 August.

It’s a remarkable thing to be awake at midnight and find oneself in broad daylight. Even stranger for those of us who live in more southerly locations is the sight of the Sun still in the northern sky at 2 am. When you are used to our star rising in the east and dutifully descending into the western horizon, you could almost imagine yourself on another planet with a differently positioned sun.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the Midnight Sun can be seen from Northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Canada, Greenland and Iceland. We offer summer month holidays in all these countries so there’s an excellent range from which to choose.

Age is no restriction as we can work with our local partners to customise the holiday to suit all ages. Over the years, we have had people travel to celebrate their 21st, 30th and 90th birthdays (with most of the ages in between too) and whilst the itineraries may have varied a little, the special memories that were created did not.
